Sr. Unix System Administrator - AIX/Solaris/Linux

The Unix Operations Department at Great-West is currently hiring a Sr. Unix System Administrator. Looking for experienced Unix Administrator to support and grow the current AIX/Solaris/Linux technical environment. Evaluate and recommend solutions for the environment and problems. Performs ongoing maintenance. On-call duty rotation.

Essential Functions:
Administer AIX/Solaris/Linux servers. Analyze and recommends solutions for UNIX system and networking problems to maintain operations. May interface with hardware and software vendors to keep systems operating. Coordinate with other departments and user environments to complete tasks. Communicates and participates with customers in order to determine their business needs and assist in resolving problems. Monitors systems performance and implements performance tuning methods.

 

Required Skills:
- 4+ years in AIX Systems Administration in a heterogeneous large server environment.

- Proven proficiency with shell scripting.
- Ability to work an on-call rotation, wear 24/7 pager.

 

Highly Preferred skills:

- Experience in: Administering a growing AIX server environment.
- SAN provisioning and administration.
- Working in an LPAR environment.
- Automated OS installation and management tools.
- Veritas products in a Solaris environment.
- High Availability replication tools.
- Red Hat Linux and satellite server administration.
