An opportunity currently exists within our Corporate Financial Reporting department for a Staff Accountant I.

POSITION TITLE:   STAFF ACCOUNTANT I

DEPARTMENT: CORPORATE FINANCIAL REPORTING

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor degree in Accounting required

- Successful completion or progress toward passing CPA preferred

- Zero to two years accounting related experience required.  Financial services industry experience preferred

- Strong analytical and accounting skills required.  PC experience required including Word and Excel required.  Knowledge of Oracle Financials preferred

MAJOR DUTIES:

- Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements and footnotes

- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting

- Analysis of various general ledger accounts detailing major items and significant variances for review at management meetings and for year-end audits.  Answer auditor questions as needed

- Reconcile and monitor assigned balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis

- Code and enter various accounting entries into the accounting system.  Ensure through research and discussions with management that the proper accounting treatment is being applied

- Assist in the preparation of assigned subsidiary stand-alone financial statements

- Develop an understanding of assigned subsidiary business on order to analyze all account activity and balances on the subsidiary financial statements.  Present findings to management on a periodic basis

- Develop an understanding of GAAP, SEC and NASD reporting requirements

- Liaise with assigned remote-entry subsidiaries and prepare journal entries as needed to record activity for these subsidiaries

- Assist in the research of various regulatory/reporting requirements

- Assist in special projects as needed

- 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Overtime as required)
