System Administrator - Senior
To provide senior level administration and support services for enterprise servers, printers and other attached devices on the network. Responsible for the efficient use of the network and ensure that the design allows all of the components, including computers, the network, and software, to fit together and work properly. Monitor and adjust the performance of the network and determine future needs. Troubleshoot problems reported by users and by automated network monitoring systems and make recommendations for enhancements in the implementation of future servers and networks. 1. 15% - Administer network users, groups, computers and network attached printers.
2. 15% - Administer the following major systems: Windows 2003 Active Directory, Exchange 2003, Citrix MetaFrame, Remote Access, SMS, Bindview, HP Insight Manager, HP Openview, McAfee Anti-Virus, IIS, VMware, WSUS. Troubleshoot and assist with repairs of servers and connected equipment including on-call support.
3. 15% - Provide primary support for two to three major systems along with secondary support for two to three major systems. See list of systems in number two.
4. 15% - Lead projects and provide support for projects as assigned
5. 10% - Conduct and attend meetings as required
6. 5% - Provide next level support for the help desk, desktop support and server support teams.
7. 5% - Conduct research and provide viable recommendations to solve business needs. Plan and test the implementation of upgrades to firmware, OS and supported applications
8. 5% - Monitor servers for disk space and performance and make recommendations for improvements.
9. 5% - Complete required change control documents and time tracking.
10. 5% - Build and support servers to current standards to meet required specifications.
11. 5% - Provide documentation for supported systems as needed.
Associated Duties:
Stay abreast of emerging technologies.
Education:
Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems
High School Diploma and equivalent experience such as Windows XP/NT/2000/2003 OS experience
High School Diploma and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer training and complete MCSE certification
Other:
2-4 years experience providing support services, such as helpdesk, desktop support, server support, in a LAN/WAN environment.
3-5 years additional experience providing server support, in a LAN/WAN environment.
Projects involving servers and networks in a lead role.
In depth knowledge of X86 based computers and peripherals
In depth knowledge of SCSI drive arrays and RAID configurations.
In depth knowledge of Windows NT/2000/2003 server administration.
In depth knowledge of supporting network attached printers.
Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite applications including Outlook
A thorough understanding of the physical components of a network, including NICs, cabling, switches, routers and firewalls.
Knowledge of and ability to troubleshoot the TCP/IP protocol.
