Technical Support Specialist

We currently have an opportunity in our Information Systems area for a Technical Support Specialist.  This position involves installing and modifying system software; running overnight processes (ie., backups, overnight reports); providing technical assistance to system users; and rotating 24 X 7 on-call support.  The shift for this position will generally be 4pm-12am (M-F).  The successful candidate should possess:

 

§         Basic understanding of LAN/Network theory

§         Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures in a LAN environment

§         Ability to perform routine maintenance for all systems and applications

§         Ability to create timelines for testing and implementation of application and operating system upgrades and patches

§         Experience providing technical support and guidance to users

§         Ability to follow established instructions, procedures and guidelines to perform job functions

§         Knowledge of computer and server hardware

§         Basic understanding of network devices (i.e. switch, router, firewall)

§         Knowledge of Windows Client and Server Operating Systems; Microsoft Exchange 2003; Veritas NetBackup Enterprise Administration; Symantec Anti-Virus Enterprise Administration; Blackberry Enterprise Server Administration.

§         Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills

§         Basic understanding of Virtual Server/Network Environments

§         Ability to organize and prioritize workload and work independently

§         Associates degree and/or 6-12 months experience necessary
