AS THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS DIVISION ADMINISTRATOR for the Oregon Public Utility Commission, you will be responsible for managing the work of the Telecommunications Division in the regulation of telecommunications utilities, through direct supervision of three section managers and through oversight of the activities of economists, engineers, accountants, and other Division staff.  You and your staff will formulate policies concerning the level of telecommunications rates paid by Oregon consumers, the promotion of competition in Oregon’s telecommunications market, and the provision of high quality telecommunications service. You will be responsible for ensuring that staff proposals represent the lowest reasonable utility rates for over one million utility consumers. 

 

· To qualify for this position you must have four years of management experience in a public or private organization which included responsibility for each of the following: a) development of program rules and policies; b) development of long- and short-range goals and plans; c) program evaluation; and d) budget preparation.  Graduate level course work (48 quarter or 32 semester hours) in management may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

 

Employment with the Oregon Public Utility Commission will afford you an excellent benefit and compensation package, which includes:

The PUC offices are located in Salem, Oregon.  Salem has a population of over 125,000 and has previously been chosen as an "All-American City."  Salem is nestled in the Willamette Valley and affords the opportunity to enjoy many outdoor and cultural activities.  For example, for those who enjoy the activities available in larger cities, Portland and Eugene are within easy driving distance (40 to 60 miles).  For those who enjoy outdoor activities, Salem is near the Oregon Coast (40 miles) and has many nearby parks.  Mountain trails for hiking (20 to 60 miles) and ski resorts—such as Mt. Bachelor and Mt. Hood (120 miles)—are also within easy driving distance.
