TREASURER AND CHIEF INVESTMENT OFFICER

 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Job Summary:  Under direction of the chief financial officer, works closely with the Investment Committee and external endowment advisors to ensure endowment investment performance meets or exceeds policy index; plans and directs all aspects of University treasury and debt management operations.

 

CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include any and/or all of the following:

 

  1.  Endowment Management (50%): maintains overall responsibility for ensuring University endowment performance meets or exceeds policy index; works closely with the University’s endowment advisors on all aspects of endowment performance; evaluates and recommends asset allocation and endowment spending policies; develops investment strategies and participates in manager selection; oversees endowment-related reporting to trustees and management; monitors the performance of the endowment daily, and recommends capital allocations to managers of approved asset classes.

 

  2.  Treasury Management (35%): maintains responsibility for all aspects of cash management; manages banking relationships and oversees evaluation and implementation of banking and credit products.

 

  3.  Debt Management (15%): monitors existing debt and implements debt restructurings; coordinates all aspects of new debt issuance; ensures debt compliance.

 

  4.  Supervises financial operations staff; performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and experience equivalent to:

 

Bachelor’s degree in business; supplemented with more than ten (10) years of finance experience, with master’s in business administration preferred.
