Vice President of Operations

This position will provide integral support for the various operational aspects of the life and annuity business for Commonwealth Annuity and Life Insurance Company (“CWA”), a wholly owned subsidiary of The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. (“Goldman Sachs”).  There will be extensive duties related to management of third party service providers.  The role will also provide support for execution of new strategies for CWA and integration of new acquisitions into the business model.  This person will report to the CWA Chief Operating Officer.

 

This position requires strong communication skills and analytical aptitude. It also requires a deep understanding and experience with the annuity and life insurance market, with particular emphasis on customer service and ongoing operations.  The candidate must enjoy a high pressure environment and be able to influence action and results with external and internal parties. 

 

Responsibilities:

 

·  Oversee/manage third party administrators that service inforce business

·  Assist with the transition and integration of newly acquired blocks of business

·  Support distribution channels for new business and escalation of service issues

·  Partner with TPAs and technology on infrastructure development and service enhancements

·  Coordinate and implement new initiatives with internal and external counterparties

·  Serve as relationship contact for funds and other insurance companies with ties to CWA

Candidate Qualifications:

 

·  5+ years of relevant life and annuity experience with a preference of 7+

·  Undergraduate degree required, advanced degree preferred (MBA).

·  Experience completing high impact projects effectively and efficiently

·  Must enjoy working with others both individually and in team

·  Strong analytical skills and ability to form accurate judgments from available data

·  Project management, problem resolution, or process improvement skills

·  “Out of the box” thinking; creative attitude and entrepreneurial spirit.

·  High energy level and internal motivation.

·  Keen ability to prioritize and multi-task in dynamic operating environment.
