Windows Engineer (New York)

The D. E. Shaw group seeks an extraordinarily intelligent and resourceful individual to help architect next-generation Microsoft Windows infrastructure.  The successful candidate will be able to conceptualize, build, and deploy systems management and automation technologies for a large number of Windows servers and Windows PC clients.  He or she will work independently and will collaborate with our large systems staff on substantial design and research projects within the Windows environment.

Responsibilities:

§ Manage a distributed Windows server environment in our campus and global networks

§ Evaluate and implement emerging Windows technologies

§ Develop and implement automation and management tools

§ Support application, database, and messaging solutions for the firm's growing, highly-resilient Windows infrastructure

Requirements:

§ 2+ years of hands-on experience with server applications in a Microsoft networked environment

§ Expertise in the following areas:

- Windows Server 2003

- Active Directory management

- Application distribution

§ Proficiency in systems programming and scripting

§ Strong communication and documentation skills
