We want a seasoned writer who can spin a tale in 300 words. You’ll be working side-by-side with professional writers and editors who know good copy when they see it. You can’t fake it at our publishing house. Lots of people say they are writers, but few have developed their talents into skills. Clips and samples are great to bring for the interview, but we ask writers to write. At the interview, we’ll ask you to develop a 300-word article on a boring financial topic. Skilled writers will make the article sing. Others will struggle. Knowledge of investments and financial markets is a plus, but not required. In fact, our lead writer had a boating background before joining the team. We will teach and train a gifted writer how to develop copy for the highly regulated financial services industry. In additional, we’ll invest in our writer. We’ll sponsor you as you pursue various securities licenses. OverviewThe Writer is responsible for researching, updating, and maintaining a variety of educational and marketing material. The writer is expected to have a solid understanding of the current economic and political landscape as it relates to Emerald’s product content, and to ensure that all material is accurate, informative, and up-to-date.DutiesThe successful writer will research, develop, and write assigned newsletter articles, seminars, and Web site material according to assigned timelines. In addition, the writer will review existing material, including seminars and research articles, and recommend material to be updated. Other duties include serving as project manager for various jobs, organizing source material, developing charts and graphs, and fact-checking of sources and content used in Emerald’s products.Skills/ExperienceThe successful candidate will have strong writing skills that have been developed through two to five years of professional experience. Knowledge of investments, insurance, and financial concepts is a plus but not required. Seasoned pros will be challenged to write compelling content that also adheres to the requirements of the highly regulated financial services industry.Education or Formal TrainingBA or BS degree required. Related work experiences may be substituted for the educational requirement. Successful candidates will be encouraged to pursue securities licenses offered by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.
