Accounting Assistant- Receivable/Payables Clerk

Other duties may be assigned.assigns proper account codes to payables invoices and completes data entry of invoices into our accounting systems, matches purchase orders to incoming invoices, light filings. Enters finalized cash receipts and updates accounts receivable ledger by customer.At month end, reconciles customer account A/R postings to monthly deposit totals.Generates and mails monthly customer invoice statements.Researches and processes customer claims of invoice payment.Researches NSF checks and contacts customers to arrange for repaymentAnswers accounts receivable phone inquiries and follows up.Performs customers account collection duties by calling and/or mailing correspondence to customers as necessary in order to insure customers maintain their account as current (invoice paid within terms).Maintain timely conversion of Accounts Receivables to cash o Maintain lowest possible debt ratioo Monitor integrity of the A/R Trial Balance accounto Help meet goals and objectives of the Accounts Receivable teamAssists with related special projects as required.Skill RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in Accounting; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Fluent in English.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Emphasis placed on accuracy in transposing and accounting calculations.REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
