Accounting Specialist

Sodexo USA is currently searching for a Tax Specialist -Sales Tax Audit for our offices in Williamsville, New York. The Tax Specialist -Sales Tax Audit will be responsible for the following: Lead and coordinate complex State sales, use and property tax audits of Sodexo and its subsidiaries (this includes the larger volume and larger exposure audits in the Department); Prepare audit protests and work with auditors to assure minimum tax liability; Ensure all payments are made timely, all waivers signed and filed as necessary, and all protests and hearing dates are met; Assist in the implementation of corrective action plans developed during an audit; Assist in ensuring compliance with internal control procedures; Assist in the development and implementation of proactive process improvements; Special projects as needed. The most qualified candidate will possess the following: Bachelors of Science Degree in Accounting; 2-3 years of Tax or Accounting experience, including at least 1 year of Tax and/or Audit experience; Knowledge of State Sales/Use Tax laws preferred; Excellent communication skills (written, verbal & listening); Excellent organizational skills; Demonstrated analytical skills ; Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, & Access); Project management skills; Ability to work interdependently with others to achieve goals and responsibilities; Ability to meet strict deadlines; Ability to perform multiple tasks, monitor progress toward meeting objectives, and adjust plans and actions as necessary; Ability to work under pressure; Ability to build and maintain a positive relationship with internal and external customers and travel up to 5%. Position Summary: Positions provides guidance to staff and Sr. Accountants. Support or leads department on cross-functional initiatives. Provides guidance on contract interpretation and escalation issues. Specialist in a specific area of accounting function.
