Accounts Payable Clerk

We are currently seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk to process purchase order related and miscellaneous vendor invoices through the complete Accounts Payable cycle.  This position reports to the Division Controller.

 

Major responsibilities are as follows:Match purchase order receiving documents with vendor invoices.          Verify invoice quantity and pricing versus receiving document quantity and cost.Resolve invoice variances (purchase order / receiving document) with internal purchasing area and/or vendor representative.Prepare miscellaneous (non-purchase order) accounts payable invoices, verify vendor number, amount due and proper departmental approval.Process employee expense reports and insure all compliance requirements.Enter information from accounts payable source document into mainframe accounts payable module and review output for accuracy.Prepare accounts payable checks and related reports, forward checks to appropriate managers for signatures, and distribute checks via external or internal mail. Resolve internal company and vendor accounts payable inquires.Maintain accounts payable vendor files.Resolve accounts payable checks and receiving documents more than 120 days outstanding.Review vendor aging report monthly identifies and resolves problem invoices / credit invoices.Assist with capital Project Log maintenance and updating monthly project folders and detailed listing of projects with projected spending greater than $100,000.Cross-train and work as a team with departmental staff as required.Assist with special projects as required.      

High School graduate is required.  Some college level accounting courses are desirable. Experience with computer-based (mainframe) purchase order/accounts payable systems is essential.  AS 400 is a plus.  Minimum of 2-3 years experience in a general office environment with some exposure to accounting procedures is preferred.  Good figure aptitude, attention to detail, and willingness to assist with various accounting functions are required.  Food processing or consumer packaged goods industry experience is a plus.
