Database Administrator

PepsiAmericas, Inc. is an anchor bottler and distributor of Pepsi and related beverages. We currently have an opening for a Database Administrator in our Schaumburg Corporate Office.  The Database Administrator is responsible for implementing, administrating and maintaining all of the company's databases.  These responsibilities include database analysis and design, performance tuning, backup and recovery, providing application support, assisting in application fixes and upgrades, and on-going monitoring and maintaining of all databases and applications. The incumbent will participate in all activities related to Database Administration as follows: Confers/Consults with application personnel on procedures, application problems, design procedures, methods and priorities. Works closely with Lead DBA, Sr. DBAs and the Applications function on database design, balancing the optimization of data access with batch loading on-line performance and resource utilization factors. Monitors the database for performance, tuning and consistency. Ensures integrity, security, timeliness and accuracy of data. Participates in Systems analysis and design during the implementation and support of applications.  Provide necessary support in the rollout and implementation of applications. Develop and maintain task lists focused on project deliverables and milestones.  Provide effective 3rd level customer support for support tickets assigned, including specific details regarding problem resolution.For successful performance in this role, the incumbent will possess: ·  Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or related field ·  2 or more years of Database Administration Experience ·  2 or more years of Programming/Development experience required·  Strong knowledge of UNIX and shell scripting required·  Strong client server skills·  In depth experience designing / implementing relational database solutions·  Knowledge of Windows NT, XP and 2000·  Knowledge of SQL Server and Microsoft Clustering solution is required ·  Knowledge and experience with Oracle RAC and Oracle performance management tools strongly desired·  Knowledge of Data Warehouse concepts·  Strong knowledge of Transact SQL or P/L SQL and JAVA strongly desired·  Required to work effectively in project and team environments and ability to collaborate and coordinate within all areas of IT·  Must be able to translate business requirements into technical solutions and possess strong analytical and troubleshooting skills In return our employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical/dental, disability, paid vacation, tuition reimbursement and a dollar for dollar matching 401k.
