Director of Quality Assurance

Position: Director, Corporate Quality Assurance Reports To: VP, Technology & Quality Location:  Irwindale, CA Grade Level:    Position Summary: Oversee the development, implementation and enforcement of Ready Pac Quality Assurance policies and programs.  Maintain the highest quality standards of products through verification of quality / food safety systems.  Lead the team of Quality Assurance Managers in all Ready Pac facilities to achieve company goals. Provide technical support and training to different functions, suppliers and customers.   Position Requirements:·  Expertise on quality and food safety systems for food manufacturing.  Experience in Produce and Fresh- Cut industry is a plus.· Expertise in regulatory affairs and requirements (such as GMPs and labeling laws) for FDA, USDA and other appropriate agencies.·  Ability to manage people in the implementation of quality assurance programs in multiple facilities.  · Communication skills (verbal and written) with all to achieve pro-active working relations, especially with vendors and customers.· Must be computer literate.· Minimum of 5 years experience in Quality Assurance management.· Minimum of Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science, Microbiology or other related science fields. * Must be available to travel 30% - 40% of the time. * Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.     Position Responsibilities:  · Provides leadership and direction to several QA Managers at different processing facilities to comply with division’s quality programs, including HACCP, GMPs, and regulatory compliance.· Provides technical and operational support to all of the processing facilities to help improve quality and food safety.· Identifies quality issues and provides solutions.  Develop training, monitoring, and measurement programs for continuous process improvement.· Exercise continuous leadership to ensure strict adherence to corporate and plant quality/food safety policies and procedures as well as all regulatory requirements.  · Maintains professional communication with other corporate and plant management, customers, and vendors.· Coordinates all inspections and audits through Quality Assurance managers. · Establishes and maintains communications with Quality Assurance functions of customers and vendors.· Provides training to communicate quality and food safety requirements for all appropriate functions. · Prepares and implements Corporate Quality Assurance budget.· Provides status reports on key subjects such as critical projects, regulatory visits and important events. · Participates in product development activities including review of specifications.· Presents information during senior management meetings and strategic planning activities of the Company· Communicate trends in quality and food safety, regulatory issues and key indicators.
