District Manager

 Route Sales District Manager in Cincinnati 

 

Brief Job Summary:  Act as the primary route supervisor, sales, customer service and operations manager by performing the essential job functions.

 

Essential Job Functions:Supervision of route sales people and other employees in distribution center.Train new employees.Perform annual and six month reviews on all distribution center employees.Inform route salespeople of location of accounts and collection procedures.Monitor driver’s attendance.Dispatch trucks.Distribute payroll, company memorandums and other important literature to employees.Coordinate activities among the distribution center.Monitor inventory – both in the distribution center freezer/cooler and in route trucks.Monitor expenditures and quality control procedures of all products and equipment.Monitor daily refrigeration: Main Facility Freezer and Reefer Units.Monitor all utilities in facilityMake sales calls.Market and distribute products and services.Service existing customers’ needs – includes, but not limited to, delivery of additional products as well as repairing and/or replacing equipment supplied to customers.Maintenance and housekeeping of the distribution center, trucks and assets assigned to the distribution center.Safekeeping of the Company’s assets: including cash collected from customers and inventory. Maintain good relations with customers – provide polite and respectful customer service.Properly service the accounts.Investigate and resolve, with tact, any customer complaints.Oversee minor repairs to company vehicles.Reviews and approves Call Sheets from Sales Representatives.Completes weekly Activities Report Sheet to home office.Approve distribution center expenses. Once approved, any bill must be forwarded to Belleville for payment.Plan routes, schedule drivers and deliveries based on customer, company and driver needs.Run specials, install and/or collect equipment and overdue payments when circumstances ariseLoad trucks or run routes when necessary – holiday weeks, when Route Salesperson is on vacation or ill, training new Route Salespersons.Ensure T-Com of handheld computers completed regularly and timely. Ride each route day on each of the routes assigned to his/her depot with the Route Salesperson at least once each calendar quarter.When on route – make sure all equipment is clean; verify point of sales advertising is in place an current; try to place additional product in the account; reacquaint himself/herself with the customers.Other duties as assigned.

 

Essential Knowledge & Skill Requirements:Bachelor’s degree or one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Must possess ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals as well as the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.Must be able to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and compute rate, ratio, and percent.Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.Ability to deal with problems.Must be able to operate handheld computer. Computer Aptitude.Must have valid operators or commercial vehicle driver's license.  Must have exceptional driving record.Must be over 21 years of age.Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.Must be willing to travel overnight if needed and willing to work weekends when needed. 

 

Working Conditions:While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold (non-weather) and vibration.The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Work 45 -55 hours a week.

 

Work Schedule:

Work Monday thru Friday, daytime hours or as needed.  Some weekend work applies to cover responsibilities.
