For more information, visit us online at www.hlpsolutions.com POSITION Executes plans and maintains programs designed to achieve company goals related to new product development, product improvement, process audits and improvement, product specifications, and sensory science. The position will also be involved with regulatory compliance activities such as product labeling and product nutritional requirements. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Reports to the Director of Technical Service.2. Is responsible for completing assignments accurately and timely while observing plant work safety rules, food safety rules, and rules of good discipline.3. Assists the planning and execution of new product development projects including product design, ingredient research, product specifications, formulating, testing, regulatory labeling compliance, and transfer to manufacturing operations.4. Executes product and process improvement projects designed to improve quality, compliance to specifications, reduce costs, or increase consumer confidence and satisfaction. 5. Executes product and process quality audits to determine compliance to specifications.6. Participates in and assists the maintenance of the product statistical sensory science program by facilitating scheduled product evaluations, training of the sensory panel, and maintaining the product statistical sensory data files.7. Assists in creating and/or maintaining the product specifications files for each product and distribution of each new specification or change to Plant Management, Plant Operations and QA groups. 8. Assists in the regulatory product labeling process including research of regulations, nutritional requirements, determination of compliance, applying for USDA label approvals and the maintenance of labeling records.9. Assists in producing, collecting, screening, packing and shipping sample product as requested by sales administration or contract customers for presentations or customers quality auditing programs. 10. Assists in determining and accomplishing certain departmental goals.11. Represents the Technical Service department in group meetings.12. Represents the company in technical meetings with customers or suppliers. QUALIFICATIONS Must be proficient with all Microsoft Office programs. Must have experience with labeling.Familiarity with statistical software such as Mini Tab a plus. Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills required. An attention to detail and appreciation of deadlines is essential. The ability to handle multiple tasks and to prioritize their importance is required.
