Maintenance Power Technician

 

General Summary:

Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on plant utilities systems, including ammonia system, gas fired steam boilers, compressed air system, cooling towers, and water pumping equipment.

JOB DESCRIPTION

1. At all times, operate in a manner consistent with safe operating procedures.

2. Responsible for fabrication or modification of equipment to Leprino's specs and standards.

3. Responsible for the installation of new or used equipment.

4. Responsible for repairs of building and coverage of plant wastewater equipment.

5. Responsible for plant boilers and refrigeration systems.

6. Responsible to respond to any equipment breakdowns or downtime when applicable.

7. Responsible to assist in shift coverage when applicable. (Techs cannot leave power dept. until properly relived by oncoming tech.)

8. Responsible for all HVAC systems in the plant.

9. Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment.

10. Responsible to fulfill MEP requirements.

11. Perform other duties as assigned by Foreperson, Supervisor, Maintenance Manager, or Plant Engineering Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must have 2 to 5 years experience in ammonia refrigeration systems.

2. A certification of RETA for class “A” is preferable.

3. Demonstrate knowledge of ammonia systems and related equipment.

4. Ability to design, layout and fabricate.

5. Ability to read blue prints and P&ID drawing.

6. Ability to work well with outside contractors.

7. Knowledge of electrical and mechanical trouble shooting of ammonia equipment.

8. Working knowledge of all dairy ammonia equipment and gas fired boiler systems.

9. Ability to obtain a forklift license.

10. Knowledge and ability to perform work in a safe and organized manner.

11. Demonstrate understanding of all facility cooling and heating systems.

12. Demonstrate VFD programming ability and electrical troubleshooting.

13. Demonstrate ability to respond to ammonia release (procedures & PPE).

 

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

 

A. Knowledge of GMPs.

 

B. Must be able to fulfill physical functional requirements of position per ADA.

 

C. Must be able to exercise judgment and make decisions.

 

D. Computer literacy.

 

E. Successful Passage of the Ramsey test.
