Meat and Ingredients Buyer

Our client is a successful manufacturer in the meat and sausage business and they have an immediate need for a Meat, food ingredients and packaging buyer.  Meat buying experience is a MUST.  Knowledge and experience in dealing with various pork, beef and poultry items are required.Position is responsible for purchasing meat and non-meat ingredients, packaging materials and production supplies through sound negotiation, vendor selection and qualification efforts.   As a member of the Purchasing Team, this position will also be involved with planning and scheduling involvement, participate as a member of the Capital Expenditures Committee, expedite goods and services, process purchase orders and work directly with inventory management to maintain optimum raw material inventory levels.  Position Specifications: College degree preferred, High School diploma or GED required plus 5 years experience in manufacturing practices and specific meat experience, food ingredient and packaging material purchasing. Must have excellent oral and written communications and interpersonal skills. Must also have strong computer proficiency, including typing skills and Microsoft software knowledge.
