Process Safety Management Coordinator

GENERAL PURPOSEThis position is responsible for the development, implementation, evaluation and maintenance of the Process Safety Management (PSM) program and related programs intended to reduce or eliminate industrial accidents and hazards associated with highly hazardous materials or covered processes. Additional responsibilities include coordination, implementation and maintenance of environmental compliance programs and initiatives to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and/or company standards, as well as monitoring of fire protection systems to ensure systems are maintained and operated in accordance with design criteria and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCoordinate process safety management program for 24/7 operations.Coordinate and manage documentation, compliance initiatives and reporting requirements to EPA, OSHA, KDHE and local authorities.Coordinate, manage and/or perform tasks necessary to ensure all PSM program elements meet or exceed applicable regulations.Coordinates and manage Risk Management Program (RMP) requirements and compliance initiatives to meet or exceed applicable requirements.Perform incident investigations to determine cause and possible changes to reduce the potential for reoccurrence or failure of a covered process.Performs Process Safety Analysis (PSA) and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) as required to effectively manage covered processes in compliance with all applicable regulations, including, but not limited to creating and maintaining all required documentation.Perform Management of Change (MOC) analysis as required to effectively manage in changes to a covered processes, including, but not limited to creating and maintaining all required documentation.Inspects all company facilities for potential hazards to reduce the potential of loss, to further define hazards, recommend improvements, and monitor compliance initiatives and recommendations.Formulates and communicates general safety practices to be followed by company personnel to ensure all covered processes comply with applicable regulations and/or standards.Acts as consultant to other departments regarding the design and use of equipment and/or processes to reduce the potential for loss or risk exposure.Inspect and monitor all fire protection systems to ensure compliance with NFPA requirements, company standards and insurance carrier recommendations to ensure fire protection systems perform as designed.Co-develops training programs with the Safety Trainer to enhance existing programs or to develop new programs to further reduce the potential for loss.Consults with outside agencies in establishing and maintaining PSM and/or environmental programs.Monitors, updates and distributes changes to the Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and assists with training.Coordinates and manages hazardous materials response team (A-Team) training, documentation and facilitates coordination with local, state and national response teams as directed.Monitors changes to a covered process or change in internal processes to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.Provides timely reports to management and/or regulatory agencies as directed.Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.



QUALIFICATIONSEducation: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.Years of Related Experience: Five to seven years related experience.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Computer experience, preferable in Microsoft Word, Excel and/or Access. Able to both work independently and well with others. Working knowledge of USDA, EPA, OSHA, and other State or Federal program requirements. Work experience or education in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, and/or Industrial Safety and Health. Must be willing to obtain training in safety, PSM and environmental regulations and related programs. Prefer knowledge of plant operations and processes.
