POSITION SUMMARY:
The Quality Assurance Manager is to coordinate the functions of the Quality Control Department and Inspection Staff in relationship to the production of company products.
MAJOR POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:Assure safe, wholesome food products for customers using the principles of Statistical Process Control (SPC), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Total Quality Management (TQM). Maintain complete, accurate records for verifying HACCP, Government Compliance Programs. Develop, implement, maintain HACCP, SOP's, and other Food Safety Programs. Lead any customer or 3rd party Quality or Food Safety audits. Coordinate the duties of Quality Control inspectors with emphasis upon continuous improvement of the products and processes. Keep aware of current food industry trends and the changing needs of internal and external customers. Embrace a forward thinking attitude toward sanitation, microbiological control and food safety. Help in Research and Development (R&D) projects as a contributing team player and/or leader. Provide necessary documentation to assure that established standards of quality are met. Train employees and schedule their work to maximize added value to the product. Prepare plant measures and reports indicating results of the bacteriological and analytical tests performed. Investigate quality complaints then document and recommend corrective measures. Authorize vacations and/or leaves of absence of department personnel, conduct annual performance reviews and develop budgets as required. Monitor and work with Sanitation Supervisor. Audit sanitation process regularly. Provide necessary technical resources to all departments as needed. Maintain awareness of current and developing government food regulations. Coordinate reporting to customers like Kraft and Pillsbury US / GM. Assist as needed on the production schedule and material planning. Support the development of the production schedule to minimize down time (due to changeovers or wash downs) and maximize throughputs. Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: Bachelor's of Science degree in Food Science or Animal Science. Five years in a food manufacturing setting with experience in Production, Quality Control Supervision, Inspection or Sanitation.
