Research Scientist

Position Description:



GENERAL PURPOSEThis position, under direct supervision, is responsible for researching and creating new ingredient, platform or process technologies or new applications of existing technologies for commercialization into new products, processes or solutions that enhance or replace current technology.*This position will be filled up to a Principal level based upon candidate qualifications.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESDevelops, gains approval for, and carries out project assignments to research and develop new applications of current known ingredient platform or process technology that can be commercialized to replace or enhance existing products or process.Carries out projects assignments to research and develop new ingredient platform or process technologies that can be commercialized into new products that support corporation, business unit's product strategies.Carries out projects assignment working with strategic suppliers to identify and collaborate in the development of new ingredient or process technology.Provides technical knowledge to resolve ingredient or process issues.Documents all work according to established procedures and guidelines and prepare various project reports to project personnel and project leader to ensure complete communication of project status, progress, issues, solutions, timeline, and accountability.Develops and implements project plan and schedule.Confers with team members to resolve problems as they relate to projects.



QUALIFICATIONSEducation: Bachelor's degree or equivalent. PhD preferred.Years of Related Experience: 5-7 years related experienceKnowledge/Skills/Abilities: Advanced degree preferred. Basic PC skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook etc. Basic communication and interpersonal skills. Basic knowledge of design and use of objective and subjective data collection methods. Basic knowledge of scientific method, experimental design, and statistical analysis. Basic knowledge and understanding of food ingredients, food functionality, food chemistry, and food processing. Understand the use and able to operate various analytical equipment and apparatus.EOE/AA
