Research Scientist

Put your education and training to work in this exciting opportunity.  In this position the scientist will conduct flavor related analytical/natural products research by performing the following duties:  Performs flavor discovery and research projects by developing systematic plans for sourcing botanical and foods samples with desirable flavor properties, performing sample evaluation using sensory and instrument methods, and conducting sensory guided separation and identification of aroma and taste components.  Provides technical and scientifc oversight of analytical/natural products research via information updates and literature reviews.  Proposes and develops flavor research projects.  Conducts short-term projects and provides support for R&D activities, flavor creation/application, and commercial production.  Maintains and operates laboratory instruments, such as GC-MS, HPLC, LC/MS, etc.  Position requirements are as follows:
PhD or MS in Food Science or Analytical Chemistry Relevant postdoctoral and/or 1-3 years (with PhD) or 5+ years (with MS) of industrial experience.  Excellent track record of research in food science and anlyatical chemistry, particulary with mass spectra interpretation.  Knowlege of botany is essential.  Written and oral communication  skills must be effective.  Strong communication and computer skills are required.  Ability to work independently as welll as in cross-functional teams.
