AFB International is currently seeking a hands-on, motivated Research Technician to support Research & Development at the Corporate Headquarters in St. Charles, MO.

 

About the Position

The Research Technician assists in the preparation of pet food and/or flavor products for palatability testing in the Process Laboratory.  This includes setting up, adjusting and operating food processing equipment and instruments including meat grinders, canning equipment, extrusion machines and dry blend equipment. 

 

Responsibilities including coating pet food products for palatability testing, adding ingredients and raw materials to monitor and adjust processes to meet test specifications, assisting scientists in flavor preparation and ingredient weighing, and cleaning/sterilizing equipment and work areas.

 

Previous experience with food research is a PLUS!

 

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a drive for results in a fast paced environment.  The ideal candidate is hands-on, takes initiative, and works well in teams.  The successful candidate will have advanced computer skills with experience in MS Office applications such as Word and Excel.  The successful candidate must also be able to lift 50 lbs. 

 

Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm

 

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s of Science degree in food science, chemistry, biology, animal science or other related field is preferred but not required; or two or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
