Safety Coordinator
Summary Plans, coordinates, and implements organization safety and environmental program to ensure safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Administrative Responsibilities:
Administers the workers' compensation program, including working with the insurance carrier, physicians, and employee to reduce employee lost time.
Leads the investigation of accidents and injuries and prepares material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
Compiles and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies.
Prepares and arrange safety exhibits and material for display and promotional work.
Represents the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs.
Maintains safety and environmental files and records.
Facilitates employee safety committee.
Escors employees of all agencies conducting safety, fire, physical security, and environmental audits.
Interviews employers and employees to obtain information about workplace incidents and work environment.
Trains managers and employees in general industry topics and site specific safety practices.
Inspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
Provides information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions.
Corporate Responsibilities:
Develops and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
Reviews employee safety programs to determine their adequacy.
Develops and implement environmental policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Environmental (ie DEP, EPA, local agencies) rules and regulations.
Prepare studies and analysis of industrial accident causes and hazards to health for use by company personnel and outside agencies.
