Sanitation & Safety Manager

POSITION PURPOSE 
 
Responsible for safe work environment free of all known hazards, mitigates ones that exist, trains all employees on safety, trains specific employees on safely operating machinery; ensures sanitation of facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & BASIC DUTIES:
 
1. Assumes responsibility for providing supervision and guidance to Sanitation Department employees.

2. Assumes responsibility for maintaining documentation of production with emphasis on quality and food safety.

3. Trains all DoBake employees on all safety policies and procedures and resolves issues involving maintaining a safe work environment.
 
4. Assumes responsibility for staying abreast of applicable food safety laws and making appropriate recommendations to the president and plant managers regarding safety issues in the plant.
 
5. Assumes responsibility for sanitation of the facility ensuring employees follow procedures and adheres to all sanitation policies and procedures to ensure environment meets DoBake standards of cleanliness.

6. Assumes responsibility for developing and maintaining documentation required by regulatory and third party inspection agencies.

7. Assumes responsibility for monitoring compliance of the pest control contract ensuring that pesticides meet and are used in accordance with EPA guidelines.

8. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining professional and respectful working relations with employees.

9. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication, coordination, and working relations with employees, management, and outside contacts.

10. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION Requirements: 
Certificates in Safety (California Safety Institute) required. HACCP (State of California Health Services) required.
Certification in Food Safety required. Certification in Epidemiology Investigations (CDC) required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: 
Basic knowledge of cleaning materials, equipment, and procedures required. Basic microbiology with a focus on bacteria associated with food industry required.  Basic knowledge of medical entomology focusing on insect identification and control is required.
 
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 
Minimum 10 years of experience in related field required.

SKILLS/ABILITIES: 
Looking for an leader that can work with little or no supervision and has the ability to work safely with chemicals, cleaning materials, and equipment. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., operate and train on equipment in facility. Looking for someone that can communicate effectively and can assist and support others. Must be able to travel between bakeries and suppliers and work overtime as necessary.
