The Sara Lee community consists of 52,000 employees worldwide.Position Summary: Supports engineering efforts in development, design, testing and implementation of the Suffolk liquid coffee plant overall control systems, manufacturing execution systems (MES) and electrical power systems to support efforts in efficiency improvements, cost reductions, maintenance enhancements, energy reductions, reporting enhancements and all aspects of electrical engineering projects. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Automation (Control Systems) – Support the plant's automation systems which are comprised of Rockwell Automation ProcessLogix (PLX) distributed control system (DCS) and ControlLogix (CLX) programmable logic controllers (PLCs) including troubleshooting, modifications, and small additions. Provides both hardware and software support for these systems. Maintain operator interface terminal (OIT) software applications utilizing WonderWare, PanelBuilder or DisplayBuilder software. Implements and maintains industrial networks namely DeviceNet, ControlNet, Foundation Fieldbus, ASI, and Ethernet. Provides programming necessary to modify the control systems, and may specify/configure hardware as well. Maintains documentation of all activities, changes, and/or expansions in a well organized and detailed format.Develop and manage capital projects including equipment and facility upgrades, new product manufacturing, capacity expansion, manufacturing re-deployment, food safety technologies and distribution expansion MES – Support the plant's Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) including funtional understanding, maintenance, troubleshooting, and small modifications. Provides software application support for Rockwell Automation products including RSBizWare Batch, PC Based Phases, and RSSQL as well as Microsoft SQL Server and Visual Basic. Modifies software applications as necessary to improve reliability, efficiency, reduce costs or implement process changes. Maintains documentation of all activities and applications in a well organized and detailed format. Works closely with IT department to assure seamless systems integration. Electrical Systems – Support plant electrical systems from main 480V 3 phase substations down to individual field devices. May include modifications, expansions and maintenance as necessary for the main switchgear, variable frequency drives (VFD's), motor starters, motor protection devices, instrumentation, discreet I/O, generators or interconnecting wiring. Assures all associated hardware, construction and installations meet or exceed National Electric Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and OSHA rules and regulations. Assures all electrical equipment and installations comply with plant GMP and environmental regulations. Capital and Expense Projects (Electrical) – Support automation engineering design, budget control, installation, and startup of approved projects; responsible for cost, quality, and operation of assigned projects within assigned time periods. Ensure appropriate training on all project installations for all Maintenance and Operations personnel as needed. Work with Maintenance Department to ensure adequate spare parts inventories and preventive maintenance schedules are communicated or provided. Maintenance Resource - Provide leadership and technical guidance to Electrical Maintenance department including training sessions, documentation organization and troubleshooting assistance. Serves as the maintenance support resource for any electrical, automation, and/or MES problem which can not be solved by Electrical Maintenance department.
Qualifications: BS in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology Minimum of 2 or more years in an industrial manufacturing or automation equipment building environment programming PLCs and OITs Knowledge of NEC and OSHA Demonstrated ability to read, comprehend, interpret and communicate complex control system architectures and software applications Good interpersonal skills with attention to detail An Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action Employer
