Bakers Pride is a premier wholesale bakery serving the Greater Metropolitan St. Louis area since 1991.  We provide fresh bakery goods for a wide variety of clients including hotels, corporate cafeterias, catering companies, churches, schools and convenience stores.  Our extensive product line emphasizes breakfast items, but also includes cookies and brownies.  We bake and deliver fresh products, early in the morning, seven days a week.  Our commitment is to provide consistent quality, excellent customer service and competitive pricing.

 

About the Position:



We are seeking a strong supervisor to direct shift operations and ensure efficient and high quality production and packaging.  This position plans, organizes and directs all activities associated with operating Bakers Pride facility from approximately 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM (3 days a week and on Saturday and Sunday).  Must also be available on certain holidays.  This schedule is subject to change according to the requirements of the business, which operates 364 days a year.

General Responsibilities:

Supervise up to 12 employees during a shift.  Be available by phone on a pre-determined, scheduled basis to address emergencies.Ensure compliance with safety rules and promote safety awareness.  Plan, organize and direct the activities of all hourly workers.Develop and execute a documented continuing improvement program for the facility, with particular attention to safety, quality, cost/efficiency, and sanitation.Monitor the documentation, training, and discipline of all hourly workers in accordance with Bakers Pride policies and procedures manual.  The Shift Supervisor will assist the Production Manager in writing the performance reviews of all hourly workers.Assist in defining new processes and facilities necessary to support quality improvement, operational improvement and business growth.

Qualifications include:

A minimum of 3-5 years direct supervisory experience is required.Must be a hands-on manager, comfortable working on the floor in a wholesale environment.Must be able to stand for long periods of time, walk, and use hands frequently.  Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, or crouch.  Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.Must be able to relate to people with diverse backgrounds, effectively resolve conflicts, establish rapport, and motivate hourly workers. Excellent communications skills, unquestionable character and background, and the ability to lead is mandatory.Strong analytical, decision-making, and personal organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize and direct the flow of multiple departments simultaneously. Must be able to continuously reassign hourly workers within departments to meet the current needs of the business.A college degree is preferred, but not required.  Must be a quick learner and a self-starter.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel.  Capability with e-mail and internet.
