Sr. Safety Manager

Department head for Safety at Wells’ Dairy. Looking for an individual that has a Safety professional background and that shares the leadership responsibility for an effective Wells’ Dairy Occupational Safety Program at a multi-site or company-wide level.  This role provides day-to-day oversight of safety activities at their respective facilities and coordinating the activities of Department Management Staff.  Integrates in matrix working relationship with Executive Staff and Corporate Safety .  Contributes to the fulfillment of the Wells’ Dairy vision by designing, implementing and maintaining department programs, policies, and procedures, to safeguard and support employees, customers/consumers products and the company.

 

Other responsibilities include providing the expertise, guidance and leadership for the development, implementation and sustainability of a world-class Safety process to create an “injury-free” environment. Provides guidance, support and coordination to the Senior Vice-President of Supply Chain.  Designs, implements, maintains and leads specific programs, policies and procedures adhering to local, state, & federal transportation, safety, and health regulations.  Keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that may impact the organization supporting Transportation, Warehouse, Receiving, and Freezer Management.  Responds to emergency situations (company-wide as needed) involving vehicle accidents, safety incidents, hazardous materials, fire and smoke, or radiation incidents; prepares reports of findings and submits recommendations.  Assists in the development of and conducts value based Safety Training and promotes safety and health by assisting with promotional campaigns.  Guides management and employees relative to the implementation and enforcement of safety and health concepts, processes and procedures.  Create and review policies and programs assuring compliance with all best practice safety and health concepts.  Preparing reports of the analysis and communicating the results with Corporate Management and department heads.  Assists with alleged violations or vulnerabilities that may or may not result in disciplinary actions due to policy non-compliance.  Effectively communicates policy recommendations, both orally and in writing to a broad spectrum of audiences as part of the employee safety education and awareness program.
