Supply Chain Director - Food & Gift

The Fundraising Division of a well known media company is looking to hire a Supply Chain Director for their Food and Gift segment.  By managing lean supply chain operations for an assortment of products, this division enables schools and other fundraising organizations to sell products to raise money. 

 

Broad function and scope of the position:
Manages the operations for the Food Category of the Fundraising Division.  A Comprehensive working knowledge of the end to end supply chain – including the functions of demand and supply planning, purchasing, supplier (manufacturer) management,  order management, deployment, management of transportation services with a strategic vendor, and customer care support for field sales, customers, and end users.

 

Typical activities include: staff development, leading the collaborative S&OP process, reporting key performance measures, supervising demand planning, budgeting, supply planning (capacity analysis and sourcing decisions), supplier management (contract negotiations and contract compliance,  troubleshooting, directing the execution of the contract), deploying products to distribution centers, managing complex customized order processing, and managing commercialization timelines for bringing new products to market.  Supervise direct staff of 3, approximately 200 purchased products, and fewer than 6 strategic suppliers. 



  Principal accountabilities Provide leadership and technical skills to determine inventory polices and supply plan based on volume forecast, customer service goals, and supplier capabilities.  Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Finance to ensure available capacity and recommend alternative solutions, on both a strategic and ongoing basis; co-develop and implement inventory replenishment strategies Proactively recognizes process improvement opportunities and drives change Maintains necessary data integrity for supplier/QSP interfaces Deliver key performance indicators; regular performance measurement, reporting, and root cause analysis of failures Negotiate contracts with suppliers; translate and communicate volume plans to suppliers; troubleshoot supplier contracts, measure supplier performance and ensure contract compliance Manage signigicant variations to the inventory plan to minimize risks to the business unit Ensure timeline management and execution of all operations activities for all go to market initiatives Provide technical expertise in solving logistics issues and leadership in identifying productivity opportunities Ensure that headquarters, suppliers, Sales, Marketing and Finance are linked through common objectives and approaches to executing Division strategies for the category Lease SKU rationalization, excess inventory minimization and disposition. Manage issues to resolution in order flow; including packed for student customization options, appropriate substitution and backorder logic, and timely communication of product availability and order processing problems. Leverage new tools and technology as appropriate.

Qualifications:  Minimum 10 years experience in Supply Chain, at least 4 at a management level Bachelor’s Degree, MBA a plus, APICS certification a Plus Experience in managing food or drug product lines; serving direct to consumer markets a plus Knowledge and experience in managing the functions listed above Experience with outsourced relationships Experience leveraging tools and technology in supply chain planning

TQM/6 sigma, process improvement experience or training a plus
