Technical Center Manager

Primary job responsibilities include: Management of the Fairfield Technical Center, managing five product developers and technicians mainly in bar development, team building, estimating and managing the Technical Center budget. The person must take ownership of the tactical product development for the bars in Abbott Nutrition, that are destined to be manufactured in Fairfield or nearby Third Party Plants. The person must be a self starter with leadership, teamwork and relation management skills. This person also will develop formulas, support and trouble shoot technical manufacturing issues, analyze results and make recommendations on the assigned projects to Supply Chain, Marketing and AN functions. This position may be filled at a lower grade dependent upon experience.QualificationsLeadership, take charge and team building skills are a must. This management position requires experience in Nutritional product development and the ability to deliver commercial products under tight timelines and Abbott standards. Experience in bar development is preferred but not required. A minimum of 8+ years of management and development experience and a background in Food Science is required. This individual needs to have effective communication and interpersonal skills and interact with multiple domestic and international departments, including Quality Assurance, Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, Product Development, Logistics, Analytical Services, Abbott and TPM production facilities. The job will require 15%-25% travel in support of projects, operations and Technical Center management. Knowledge/exposure to US and international food industry, regulation and Abbott quality systems is an asset. This person should be able to prioritize and manage multiple projects, with demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to make good decisions independently and provide innovative problem solving skills.
