Aircraft Safety and Survival System Technician Peculiar Skill and Experience Summary

Aircraft Safety and Survival System Technician Peculiar Skill Requirements: The Aircraft Safety and Survival System Technician shall have the following skill requirements:

Five (5) years within the last nine (9) years practical OMA experience in the KC-130J safety and survival system. Minimum expertise equivalent to the Marine Corps MATMEP level III (CDI) sign off requirements in this specialty. Completed one or more CNATT, or equivalent OMA maintenance course on the KC-130J safety and survival systems.

Aircraft Safety and Survival System Technician Experience Summary: Tasks that the technician shall be experienced and qualified in, but are not limited to the following:Experience in troubleshooting malfunctions in the KC-130J Safety and Survival systems of moderate difficulty at the organizational maintenance level.  Experience in repairing anti-ice/de-ice, bleed air, air conditioning and floor heat systems, and components using hand tools, power tools, and applicable test equipment.Experience in reading and interpreting manufacturers' maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing damaged ducting, malfunctioning or damaged components.Experience in performing progressive, isochronal, and other hourly or calendar inspections.Experience in inspecting KC-130J Safety and Survival systems utilizing applicable maintenance requirement cards and maintenance instruction manuals for defects and malfunctions.Experience and capability of performing all necessary organizational level repairs.Experience in applying technical knowledge of KC-130J Safety and Survival systems in determining equipment malfunctions.Experience in applying required expertise in restoring equipment condition and/or operation. Experience in applying comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals. Experience in replacing or repairing worn, damaged, or defective wiring and related components.Experience in using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment.Experience in disassembling and inspecting parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects.Experience in repairing or replacing defective parts in aircraft.Have a thorough knowledge of KC-130J Safety and Survival systems component troubleshooting, repair procedures and part replacements.  Have a thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, and micrometers required to perform maintenance in his/her specialty. Experience in performing pre-flight and post-flight maintenance inspections.Experience in performing miscellaneous duties to include servicing aircraft oxygen systems and checking systems components for proper operation.Experience and capability of supervising the towing of aircraft.Experience and knowledge to enter accurate descriptions of work performed in maintenance records after verifying that work is satisfactorily performed.Experience in servicing components at line stations while making repairs.Have a thorough working knowledge of technical publications. Be capable of receiving technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technicianExperience in making entries in aircraft logs and records.In addition to the above requirements, this technician must be able to qualify as and perform as a CDI on arrival.
