Assistant Project Manager

The Oregon Department of Transportation was established in 1969 to provide a safe, efficient transportation system that supports economic opportunity and livable communities for Oregonians. ODOT develops programs related to Oregon's system of highways, roads, and bridges; railways; public transportation services; transportation safety programs; driver and vehicle licensing; and motor carrier regulation.

Assistant Project Manager This recruitment is to augment the candidate pool generated by job announcement OCDT8103. The Assistant Project Manager assists the Project Manager in supervising and managing ODOT's role in the delivery of multi-million dollar transportation construction projects. The person in this position helps manage a staff of engineers, technicians, and clerical personnel who assist in the Project Manager's role as the contract administrator of ODOT construction contracts, as well as the construction management experts for the agency. The salary range is $4200-$6203/month+ excellent benefits. This position is located in Beaverton, Oregon.

As a Assistant Project Manager you will:
Assign work and/or adjust assignments as required to meet contractor schedules and staffing levels. Assist the Project Manager in the supervision of field construction contracts for major interchanges, highways, bridges, traffic signals, bikeways and buildings. Review contract work for compliance with plans and specifications, and accept or reject work based on established standards. Initiate, negotiate and review proposed contract changes. Interview and recommend hiring of new employees and assist with performance appraisals and disciplinary actions. Lead/coordinate field inspection activities on highway construction projects. Prepare and recommend project budgets and work force based on projections and reports. Establish and maintain responsible relations with the contractor, the public and other project personnel. Participate as a member of a project development team for upcoming projects. Position Qualifications include: A valid Professional Engineer's (PE) license in Civil, Structural, or Transportation-related engineering.
