Civil Engineer PE

The City of Cedar Hill, Texas, a growing community located in the Dallas – Ft Worth Metroplex, is now accepting applications for the position of Civil Engineer (PE). The purpose of this position is to provide engineering services to the City by focusing engineering expertise on specific issues, including project management and utilities.  Other duties include administering contracts, reviewing development plans, providing information and assistance to citizens, builders, developers, and engineers, administering grant programs, providing assistance to the Director of Public Works, other City employees, and citizens.  This position provides direction to other employees.

 

Duties:

·  Manages department projects by preparing and obtaining easements and right-of-ways, preparing and reviewing construction documents, coordinating projects with City departments, outside consultants and other agencies and preparing status reports.

·  Administers contracts by negotiating contracts, ensuring timely completion of projects, resolving issues and ensuring payment.Reviews development plans by ensuring adequacy of City infrastructure, resolving discrepancies and design issues with developers and design engineers, preparing reports and presentations on findings and ensuring projects are constructed in accordance with City requirements.Provide information and assistance to the general public, developers, builders, and engineers regarding development policies and procedures, city construction standards, and the location of city utilities; participate on a variety of boards, commissions and committees; prepare and present staff reports and other necessary correspondence.Advise City Engineer on water and sewer system needs and requirements.Must have the ability to make sound decisions, use good judgment, and communicate clearly.

 

Requirements:

ü  BS degree in civil engineering or closely related field.

ü  Requires 5 years experience and a Texas Professional Engineer’s (PE) license or ability to obtain within 12 months.  In lieu of a professional degree, PE and ten years experience in municipal engineering may be considered. Hiring preference may be given to applicants who possess a Utility Contractor or General Contractor license.

 

Salary: Range is $55,007 - $85,261 commiserate with experience, PLUS EXCEPTIONAL benefits including dependent medical and dental insurance for only $144 per month.
