Construction and Engineering Specialist - Combat Engineer
We’re looking for team players to provide construction and engineering support vital to the successful outcome of a variety of missions. As a member of a Combat Engineer team in the Army National Guard, you’ll be designing and building bridges, roadways, secure perimeters, and tactical firing systems, as well as detecting and safely neutralizing mines and other traps. In doing so, you will ensure the safe and timely mobility of other combat teams and materials. After your paid Guard training and experience, you will feel at ease stepping into a variety of civilian career paths including, construction, building inspection, and building engineering.
As a Soldier in the Army National Guard, you join an elite group of warriors who train part-time to be ready full-time, should their State or Nation call them to serve. The Guard is the oldest branch of the military and its members have a long and noble history of serving at home and abroad to ensure the safety and freedom of their fellow citizens.
Major Duties
· Constructs trails, roads, and field fortifications, such as shelters, bunkers, and gun emplacements
· Assembles floating or prefabricated bridges
· Operates various light or heavy engineer vehicles
· Places and detonates explosives
· Loads, unloads and moves supplies and equipment using planes, helicopters, trucks, and amphibious vehicles
· Operates or serves as a crewmember on a combat engineer vehicle, armored vehicle launch bridge, or an armored combat earthmover
· Prepares and installs firing systems for demolition and explosives
· Locates mines by visual means or by using a mine detector
· Participates in combat mobility, countermobility, and survivability operations

Requirements
· High School Diploma or GED (If you do not have a diploma or GED, you may still apply – ask a recruiter about how the Army National Guard can help you earn your GED)
· Must be between the ages of 17 and 42
· Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards

· Must be able to lift very heavy objects
