Our ideal candidate’s role within BAE Systems will be a Design Engineer II responsible for generating creative, manufacturable design solutions to difficult design challenges balancing good design practices with demanding customer specifications under the guidance of a Design Engineer III and/or Engineering Manager. PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Lead minor development projects under the guidance of an Engineering Manager 2. Development of new sub-system/components on a major project that meets customer needs based upon current state of the art under the guidance of a Design Engineer III. 3. Assist in preparation of design review presentations with program management and customers. 4. Assist in creating design documentation such as detailed product component and assembly drawings and bill of materials to send to suppliers to be able to construct engineering mock-ups. 5. Work with technical assembly group to guide and assist in fabrication, assembly and installation of the designed systems. 6. Projects are fast paced and require dedicated design effort, close coordination with other designers and ability to learn quickly. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: BS or BA Degree in Engineering and 2-4 years experience as a Design Engineer I BASIC SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS: 1. Use of Pro/Engineer Wildfire as primary design CAD system, familiarity with solid modeling, sheet metal and drafting modules. 2. AutoCAD knowledge desirable. 3. Experience in design of construction, agricultural, military or automotive systems is desired. 4. Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards required. 5. Familiarity with military design standards helpful 6. Solid interpersonal skills with experience in customer/supplier relations 7. Demonstrated ability to lead and work well with others 8. Strong communication (verbal and written), decision making and employee relations skills 9. Experience with ISO 9001 or QS 9100 Quality Operating Systems 10. Able to handle multiple assignments under extreme time constraints and high stress conditions 11. Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently 12. Must have strong work ethic, sense of urgency and a high energy level 13. Self-starter: bias for action, results oriented 14. Ability to work effectively to meet deadlines 15. Computer skills with proficiency in MS Office applications required 16. Must be able to work days, evenings, and weekends to meet business needs 17. Ability to work with a diversified work force 18.
