CHENEGA INTEGRATED SYSTEMS, LLCPOSITION DESCRIPTIONCompany Title: Bus Driver - Detention OfficerChenega Title: Driver, Light Truck Work Location: El Paso, TXReports To: Program ManagerFLSA Status: SCA Regular Full-time Non-ExemptPrepared by: April 29, 2008SummaryResponsible for the security and control of detainees in custody regardless of the detainee population. Works in secured environment, and shall have at least one year of general experience as a detention officer. Working under general supervision, the Bus Driver operates a 44/52 passenger bus on or off the Service Processing Center providing transportation for detainees. Operates bus over federal, interstate, state and county roads and city streets in all types of traffic conditions.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAll Detention Officers who work under this contract shall pass a medical examination conducted by a licensed physician. Must maintain current/physical residency in the continental United States.• Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.• The ability to greet and deal tactfully with the general public.• Capable of understanding and applying written and verbal orders, rules and regulations.• Possess good judgment, courage, and alertness and have an even temperament.• Maintain self-control during situations that involve mental stress, fires, explosions, civil disturbances and building evacuations.• Maintain a neat and clean personal appearance.• Performs other duties as assigned.• May be required to work irregular shifts (days, nights, evenings, weekends, and holidays).• Operate a 44/52 passenger bus on various roadway systems; encountering various traffic signals, multiple types of intersections, sharp curves while transporting passengers. Selects the safest most direct routes to travel and identify alternate route in emergency situations. Maneuvers bus within close tolerances when driving and backing and in narrow or congested areas, between buildings and when positioning vehicles at loading docks. • Operates radio of assigned vehicle receiving and acknowledging calls for routine or emergency pickups and informing the supervisor of his / her location and status.• Performs operator maintenance to insure that vehicles are in a safe, efficient and presentable operating condition in compliance with established policies. • Completes trip tickets and other administrative forms required (i.e., driver sheets, accident forms, etc.) Supervisory Responsibilities: None.Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. All personnel must be a United States citizen and have a social security card approved by the Social Security Administration and/or a person who is lawfully admitted into the United States for permanent residence, and have resided in the U.S. for the last five years, possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED), and have no criminal record. Education and/or Experience• Minimum high school diploma or GED. • At least a minimum of 1 year experience as a Detention/Correction Officer or Security Guard.• Or, Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Armed Forces.Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsMust possess and maintain a CDL Class A or B with the following endorsements: Air Brakes, Passenger (P). May be required to work at a rapid pace for longer periods of time. Must be able to withstand temperature extremes encountered during performance of duties. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.Work Environment Work is performed both inside and outside but primarily in buildings/secured yards, that are unheated, with concrete floors. Incumbent is subject to extreme caution due to the nature of items involved and must at all times adhere to fire, safety, and security regulations within assigned areas. Work may requires wearing protective clothing such as steel-toed shoes, rubber gloves, face shields, and aprons. May be required to work a rotating or non-rotating shift as necessitated by workload and may be required to work weekends in support of mission requirements.
