Director of Architecture

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Be a part of making a greener, greater NYC! We seek a Director of Architecture to Work with the Chief of Design to ensure design excellence for all architectural design projects within the Capital Projects division. Review interagency design proposals and estimates. Provide supervision and design leadership for the Architecture and Historic Preservation divisions. Monitor design progress and coordinate peer, internal and Commissioner reviews for the Chief of Design. Work with Borough Team Leaders to assign design staff and establish project schedules. Review and sign draft and final scopes of work prior to the Chief’s review. Assist the Chief, Borough Team Leaders and Borough designers to provide initial design direction. Represent Capital Projects at Agency and external organization meetings. Sign off on schematic design, final design, materials, specifications and contract documents prior to Chief of Design’s signature. Approve field modifications that affect design compliance. Oversee special and large scale projects in conjunction with the Chief and Borough Team Leaders.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
A valid NYS Registration as an Architect and six (6) years of full-time paid experience in architectural work, at least two (2) years of which shall have been as an administrative architect.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
1. Knowledge of AutoCAD.
2. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
3. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
4. Knowledge of Photoshop, PowerPoint and 3D Rendering.
5. Valid New York State Driver license.
