Electrical Engineer Senior

Responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of assigned engineering work packages within established schedule, budget limitations, and customer requirements. Reviews customer specifications, defines work scope and associated tasks. Coordinates the work of other engineers assigned to the project. May have other managerial duties such as budgets, cost control, customer liaison, and meeting contractual requirements. Acts as team leader on projects or major portions of a software system, as applicable. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Reviews and approves new product design layouts. Provides complete and accurate solutions to a variety of engineering, systems analysis or system design problems requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria, adhering to schedule and cost objectives. Designs, develops, and tests all aspects of electrical components, equipment, and machinery. Makes preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives. Reviews and interprets customer specifications and SOW, and prepares and issues job analysis in response to quotation estimate. Performs advanced engineering work associated with design, evaluation, planning, testing, and operation of equipment and systems for commercial and military uses. Conducts independent technical investigations and provides impact assessments and design recommendations to customers. Participates in checking review of new drawings and approval of same after revision/correction, as necessary. Prepares and releases manufacturing or system information as engineering information becomes available. Prepares and issues change orders to engineering or system documentation. Determines and assesses the advisability of alternative solutions to potential and actual technical problems. Recommends modification of program activities where an alternative method or approach will permit more effective completion of task. May coordinate the work of other engineers assigned to the project to ensure technical accuracy of accomplished assignments. Informs the Program Manager of technical problems and progress associated with assigned task. Contributes to sections of technical proposals and estimates cost of engineering efforts. Develops and presents technical presentations, as required. Assists in the preparation and monitoring of input to engineering budget. Provides liaison with manufacturing and customer to ensure adherence to schedules. Maintains full technical knowledge of the project. Responsible for instructing, assigning, directing, and checking the work of other software development engineers and analysts, as applicable. May use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform assignments. Assists in scheduling and coordinating projects. Works with customers, end users, and technical staff to resolve system problems and responds to suggestions for improvements and enhancements. Leads seminars and demonstrates mechanical/software/electrical systems, as applicable. Develops user manuals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Assists in developing quality, configuration, logistics, or training documents. Performs on-site installations and user training. May report to an executive or a manager. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering and 4-6 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Additional courses in management or accounting preferred. A minimum of 8 years experience is required for software applications. Proven skills in written and oral communication. Advanced knowledge of engineering testing principles, methods, and techniques. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. Ability to utilize advanced techniques of practices in the specific area of technical activities and/or related disciples, and current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
