Our Aerosol Physics Team (APT) within our Applied Biology and Aerosol Technology (ABAT) Product Line specializes in providing support to government organizations interested in the development, evaluation, and implementation of methods, devices, and techniques designed to provide protection against airborne chemical, biological, and radiological hazardous materials. APT is seeking a Researcher for full-time, regular shift work. Compensation will be based on relevant qualifications and experience. Battelle offers competitive compensation and benefits programs. The selected candidate will work on-site at Battelle's Columbus, OH Campus. Primary job responsibilities will include: - Assistance in developing physical and mathematical models addressing aerosol phenomenology such as aerosol formation, atmospheric transport and turbulent diffusion, penetration through porous media, and other related phenomena. - Assistance in developing and coding novel data analysis tools, presentation tools, and add-ons to 3rd party tools. - Performance of hazard assessment analyses for aerosol/vapor releases using state-of-the-art computer models, including both indoor and outdoor release scenarios. - Performance of data compilation, reduction, review, and analysis adhering to accepted practices. - Assistance in the documentation of research findings and results, including preparation and presentation of progress and final reports. Additionally, the selected candidate will be expected to perform certain laboratory investigations and administrative functions, as necessary, to ensure smooth progression of programs and timely distribution of program deliverables, including data analyses, briefing materials, and technical reports. Some domestic travel is anticipated. Candidate resumes must demonstrate the following minimum requirements in order to be forwarded for consideration: - Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, or related discipline. - At least two years of experience with atmospheric, indoor air, particle/fluid flow, or other relevant modeling using state-of-the-art computer programs (commercial or custom models), and/or computational fluid dynamics. - Ability to program (i.e., C, C++, C#, VB.NET, FORTRAN, etc.) in both procedural and object oriented styles. - Good oral and written communication skills. - The ability to work in a team environment. - Sole U.S. citizenship, with the ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearances as a condition of employment. - Sufficient medical fitness to work in the laboratory and in the field to perform assigned duties. Additional selection criteria that will be considered include experience in modeling or experimentation with aerosol generation, sampling, and characterization, air pollution analysis, egress modeling, spray systems, and nanotechnology.
