FDNY IT OPPORTUNITIES
The Fire Department of New York (FDNY) seeks talented personnel for major initiatives that will facilitate communication between FDNY and other City agencies.
911 Emergency Communications Transformation Program (ECTP) will enhance voice communications, and replace outdated technologies with modern equipment, while implementing enhanced technologies to consolidate and streamline emergency call taking functions for Fire Operations, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the NYC Police Department. Positions available:
PROJECT COORDINATORS/ANALYSTS
Administrative Project Coordinator: Responsible for project management and coordination of ECTP activities for a variety of critical ECTP related projects including, but not limited to, Unified Call Taking (UCT), Application Systems Migration, Integration Testing, system ATP and cutover planning and development.
Starfire Technical Project Manager: Coordinate the implementation of FDNY’s CAD upgrade. Gather technical and operations requirements, system functionality documentation; plan, schedule, track milestones and deliverables, ATP’s and Cutover Plans as well as budget & resource management tracking.
EMSCAD Technical Project Manager/Analyst: Perform day to day system maintenance/analysis. Troubleshoot Mobile Data Terminals (MDT), Computer Aided Dispatch Systems (CAD), map and Automatic Vehicle Location System (AVL) problems; responsible for the EMSCAD Staying Alive Project, including budget & resource management tracking, analysis and research.
EMSCAD Analyst/Programmer: Analyze user requirements, procedures and problems to improve existing systems and confer with system users to define requirements for system modifications. Coordinate development, testing, installation and modification of EMSCAD programs.
CERTIFIED IT SPECIALISTS
Starfire (Fire CAD) Programmer: Develop and implement software requirements for new system functionality; create and execute test scenarios to prove software functionality. Develop and execute system back-ups and other business continuity tasks.
ECTP Network Security Engineer: Responsible for network security design review, support and implementation of a number of FDNY’s ECTP IT networking projects including: E 911, SONETS, IT Infrastructure, logging and recording networks, etc. Provide advice and guidance on information security and audit control for all of FDNY’s IT systems.
ECTP Network Engineer: Responsible for design review, support and implementation of a number of FDNY’s ECTP IT networking projects including E 911, IT Infrastructure, logging and recording networks, etc. Oversee installation, configuration and resolve issues regarding fiber equipment network management tools and security solutions.
Electronic Critical Information Dispatch System (ECIDS) In order to more effectively maintain and access FDNY building related information, FDNY will be creating a central repository of building information that currently resides on various standalone systems. This will enable FDNY to share information with various City agencies and facilitate studies and analyses in the areas of suppression, investigation and safety.

CERTIFIED IT SPECIALISTS
(Applications/Database/LAN)
Oracle Applications Developer: Design, develop, and implement complex database applications. Work experience in programming language such as JAVA, JSF, PL/SQL, and XML with J2EE and EJB technology.
Systems Architect: Responsible for the entire software development life cycle that includes Scope of Work, System Design, Development and Implementation. Knowledge in System Development Methodology is a must.
Oracle Database Administrator: Responsible for database designs, administration and integrity. Coordinate development, testing, installation, and modification of Oracle Database Applications programs. Working experience in Oracle RAC and Oracle Application Server will be a plus.
Unix System Administrator: Administer SUN Solaris Systems which consists of Oracle RAC and Veritas cluster. Maintain system integrity and security on all Unix Platform. Manage system networking and assist in LAN and WAN configuration.
