Finance Manager/Director

The Puget Sound Clean Air Agency works to ensure that all people in King, Kitsap, Pierce and Snohomish counties have clean, healthy air to breathe. We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager to provide financial leadership, direct the agency’s financial resources and staff, and manage our accounting systems in accordance with best practices for local government.

 

Created in 1967, Puget Sound Clean Air Agency works in partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Washington State Department of Ecology. We adopt and enforce air quality regulations, sponsor voluntary initiatives, and educate people and businesses about clean-air and climate-friendly choices they can make.

 

We provide a competitive salary and a generous benefits package: medical and vision premiums are fully paid for employee coverage, plus 80% of dependent premiums; dental premiums are fully paid for employees and dependents; two retirement plans (PERS and Section 457 deferred compensation); life, LTD, and STD. Our office is located in downtown Seattle, and we provide transit passes for employees and ZipCar use for agency business.

 

This position reports to the Director of Operations, and specific responsibilities include:

·  Provides sound fiscal analyses and financial reports to the Executive Director and other agency managers and work plan leads

·  Leads the development, implementation and maintenance of financial management infrastructure to support the agency’s strategic planning initiatives and core work

·  Develops department policies, processes, procedures and practices to streamline work and improve customer service

·  Provides timely reporting of annual and multi-year trends and projections for revenues, expenditures and fund balances

·  Assists managers and staff in developing a thorough understanding of the agency’s financial systems and procedures

·  Ensures that the agency has adequate internal controls and auditing functions

·  Leads, manages, and provides regular feedback to department staff

·  Coordinates the development and management of the agency’s annual budget

·  Coordinates and monitors purchasing and contract administration, grant applications and accompanying reports.

 

The successful candidate will have:

·  A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration; Master’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration is preferred

·  CPA certification is preferred

·  8-10+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including at least 5 years at a supervisory, Finance Manager level

·  4-5+ years of experience in the public and/or nonprofit sectors

·  Computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook; experience with MIP is also required

·  Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write reports and present information to a variety of audiences, including Board of Directors
