Healthcare Policy Associate

Altarum is currently looking for a Healthcare Policy Associate to join our team. This position will be based at the client site in North Rockville, MD. The Policy Associate will be responsible for a range of activities on the Access to Recovery (ATR) Technical Assistance Project, a high-profile Presidential initiative. Key functions of the position include converting data and statistics into written reports and products, and conducting research on topics of interest to client staff. This position entails daily interaction with client staff and other government officials. • Reviewing and summarizing data on ATR grantee programs in order to create profiles and reports for dissemination to high-level government officials. • Conducting research on topics and issues that relate to addiction treatment and recovery. • Developing a familiarity with ATR grantee programs in order to support client staff who work directly with grantees. • Supporting client staff in meeting planning and preparation and with generating presentations, status reports, and other materials or activities. • Serving as a conduit of information between client staff and ATR project staff located at Altarum’s Washington, DC office. • Exercising independent judgment to plan, prioritize, and organize a diverse workload. • Other duties as assigned by the Project Director or supervisor at the client site. • Master’s degree or Bachelor's degree with 2-4 years relevant experience. Education and experience in public health, public policy, social work or related field is preferred. • Strong qualitative, analytical and organizational skills. • Some project management skills. • Familiarity with behavioral health issues, especially addiction treatment and recovery, preferred. • Familiarity with State programs and policy issues related to the delivery of social and/or human services. • Experience working with high-level Federal, State, and local government officials preferred. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision. • Strong ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines. • Ability to exercise sound business judgment.
