Human Resources Assistant - Barstow, CA

EAI, operation of SAIC, is seeking a dynamic HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT to work at the Marine Corps Base in Barstow, California, for the Homeland Protection and Preparedness Business Unit, supporting this military government customer. SAIC HOLDS THIS CONTRACT THROUGH OCTOBER, 2008. JOB DESCRIPTION: Work on the Human Resources (HR) team to provide human resources and recruiting support. Schedule interviews, file, assist in conducting MMPI tests. Establish and/or maintain Official Personnel Folders, including consolidation with prior service records. Enter appropriate position data into position builds. Answer questions regarding the status of pending actions and resolve processing/pay problems. Type letters, report, memoranda, etc. Due to Federal contract regulations, US citizenship is required. Criminal background investigation will be required. REQUIREMENTS: High School education or equivalent, plus 1 year of related specialized experience performing duties OR 1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement. Must have practical knowledge of staffing methods and have worked in a team environment providing support to a number of co-workers. Must have skill in using automated data processing systems, to include the Microsoft Office software package (or other current USMC standard software), must have working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheets. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Prior military or government HR experience preferred.
