Human Resources Specialist

Title:  Human Resources Specialist
Location:   Alexandria, VA - Metro

Duration:  6 Months project

Seeking a seasoned human resources specialist to assist with identifying, planning for, and assisting with the correction of erroneous personnel actions. The erroneous data stems from lack of oversight and management of position classification and management activities that have occurred over a number of years.

The specialist would first identify the size and scope of the errors that exist by reviewing and comparing information within the available paper records. Information that must be synchronized, validated and/or corrected includes PD, full performance level, master record information, position sensitivity, financial disclosure, supervisory titling, bargaining unit status, and FLSA designation. The result of this initial pass at the data would result in a defined project plan with timeframes and a recommendation(s) for approach to fixing erroneous records.

After the project plan is presented and approved, the specialist would then work through correcting erroneous records. The work is intended to be as transparent to the business unit and employee as possible. Some actions may require substantive correction by
re-classifying or correctly classifying the existing position. The actions will be brought to the attention of the Division POC for the effort. Additionally, the specialist must be cognizant of how on-going personnel actions may supersede or otherwise need to be integrated with corrective actions being carried out by the specialist. The Division and specialist will identify a process for ensuring that actions and effort is not duplicated in this regard.

The individual for this project must have significant and current experience with various position classification and associated activities such as FLSA and position sensitivity designations. This individual must possess project management expertise to be able to analyze the scope of the effort, make smart recommendations for approaching the project, and provide realistic and experienced projections for completion timelines.
