JOB SUMMARY:

U.S. Department of State, Overseas Buildings Operations, Information Management has an opening for an IT Specialist. 

 

The U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO), Office of the Executive Director (EX), Information Management Division (IM) has an immediate opening for a full time (40 hours) IT Specialist as a Personal Service Contractor (PSC) at the 14 grade level.  The incumbent will analyze, plan, implement, and maintain a comprehensive IT server infrastructure and its network, systems, and applications.  OBO manages, directs, and establishes policies for the worldwide overseas buildings programs in order to provide safe, secure, and functional facilities for the conduct of U.S. diplomacy and the promotion of U.S. interests. 

 

DUTIES:

Applicant should address specific knowledge, skills, and abilities: 

(1) Strong knowledge of the Post Administrative Software Suite; (2) Knowledge of Microsoft Operating System for servers and desktop computers; (3) Knowledge of TCP/IP; (4) Knowledge of Backoffice, such as IIS, Exchange, SMS, and SQL; AND (5) Solid knowledge of computer hardware. 

 

The incumbent must be able to establish and maintain effective relationships with managers and users, technical specialists at various levels, and with contractor/vendors to determine the potential of adapting or integrating available technology to the OBO’s needs.  The incumbent helps to ensure that the inventory of all network hardware and software is properly maintained.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Applicant must have at least one full year of information applications (specialized) experience in responsibilities as a Information Technology Specialist OR similar position, (equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal Service), which has equipped him/her with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience must be related to the work of the position as defined in the duties and must be equivalent to the next lower grade level. 

 

MANDATORY:

A Department of State Top Secret security clearance is required prior to employment.  Relocation expenses will not be paid.  This position is a one-year renewable Personal Services Contract position and may be filled at the GS-14 equivalent grade level based on relevant salary history and experience.
