PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:
The supervisor helps to build the foundation for and maintain unit functioning, as well as develops and maintains staff capacity. The position exists to insure that quality investigation and assessment services are provided for children who are the subjects of reports of abuse and neglect. The supervisor will also help support and guide caseworkers in the implementation of their duties.
EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Provide weekly supervision and team supervision, consultation, and staffing regarding investigations, assessments, and case planning. Provides training for new staff, support and ongoing mentoring. Assists staff to recognize policy and procedure priorities and the liability involved in providing family services with in child protection programs. In assigning a referral, the supervisor obtains information from case history in order to make decisions around imminent safety/risk to children. The supervisor develops and implements response plans to address specific issues of the referral. Nurtures community partnerships to enhance service delivery program development in other related agencies, and the community at large. Ensures the compliance of county, state, and federal mandates and utilization of tools identified in assessing the safety/risk of children. Evaluates the performance of casework staff and addresses developmental and educational training needs. Provides a work environment that ensures productivity and an atmosphere in which learning and skills can be developed.
Knowledge of supervisory and management techniques such as case monitoring, planning, organizing; Delegation of duties; Work allocation; Staff appraisal; Team building; Goal setting; Leadership; To effectively and equitably supervise 5-7 child protection case workers and manage the work flow of the unit. Knowledge of human behavior principles, child development, family dynamics, neglect and abuse dynamics. Knowledge of casework principals, assessments, assessments and intake investigations, used in training new workers, auditing assessment and giving case direction. Ability to use various electronic systems including Records Management, TRAILS, Microsoft programs as well as ability to train staff to such. Current knowledge of the Colorado Children's Code, Volume II, the Adams County Administrative manual, the Adams County Personnel Manual and Bureau Policies/Procedures.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Four-year college degree
• Three to five years of experience
