Jefferson County Veterans Service Officer

THE ALABAMA DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS, an equal opportunity employer, announces recruitment for a Jefferson County (Bessemer) Veterans Service Officer. 

 

To qualify for this position, the applicant must be a resident and qualified/registered voter in Jefferson County as well as an honorably discharged veteran with a minimum of 60 days active duty military service in a wartime period.

 

Applicant must have the following:

 

    1.  Two years of college with courses in social work or counseling.

    2.  Extensive office management experience.

    3.  Must be proficient using MS Windows XP and Office XP Suite.

 

 

Key responsibilities and duties include advising all county organizations on veterans programs and assisting all county veterans and their eligible dependents in obtaining all state and federal benefits to which they are entitled as well as other activities as directed by the District Manager and Commissioner.
