Lottery Sales Representative
Overview
The Lottery Sales Representative, through direct contact, markets the Lottery product line to retail outlets in an assigned district of the state, and is responsible for sales activity, vendor and public relations in the assigned district.
Job Responsibilities
· Merchandises the Hoosier Lottery product line to retail outlets in an assigned sales territory and be responsible for maximizing sales activities in assigned territory;
· Monitors the distribution of lottery tickets throughout the territory to assure adequate coverage and adequate inventory control at all points of distribution;
· Prepares various reports to reflect sales activity of assigned territory;
· Maintains and/or improves the quality, timeliness, sales volume and scope of services in an assigned territory;
· Develops and executes sales promotions within individual retail outlets which includes but not limited to innovative displays, productive techniques, and proper procedures for the handling of lottery tickets;
· Assists with the collection of monies owed, inventory, lottery products or any property supplied by the lottery;
· Responsible for implementing lottery retailer polices and procedures as well as insuring all retailers uphold the agreements of their lottery contract;
· Prepares recommendations and justifications on new or revised sales procedures, policies, etc.;
· Assists in the licensing procedures concerning retail sales outlets;
· Recruits potential new lottery retail selling locations that meet lottery requirements;
· Maintains current and accurate account records;
· Responsible for all assigned Hoosier Lottery property;
· Performs other related tasks as assigned.
Job Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration or closely related field and two (2) years of experience in wholesale or retail sales (preferably in route sales) or equivalent experience may substitute for formal training where appropriate. One (1) year as Lottery Claims Representative plus required experience may substitute for formal education; six (6) months as FSA plus required experience may substitute for formal education;
· Knowledge of principles and practices of marketing with experience implementing marketing programs for retail outlets in an assigned geographical area;
· Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, and be proficient in Microsoft Office;
· Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with contacts in retail outlets, the public, and local news media representatives;
· Extensive daytime travel is required;
· Ability to function independently which includes prioritizing and organizing work;
· Ability to maintain composure when under pressure and when dealing with difficult people;
· Basic accounting, bookkeeping or record keeping skills.
