Summary: Directs and coordinates research and development activities for organizational products, services, or ideologies by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. Duties & Responsibilities: •Plans and formulates aspects of concealable body armor research and development proposals such as objective or purpose of project, applications that can be utilized from findings, costs of project, and equipment and human resource requirements. •Reviews and analyzes project proposals with Sales/ R&D staffs to determine if benefits derived and possible applications justify expenditures. •Approves and prioritizes proposals considered. Monitors and reports out project progress to management, prepares/assists in scope requests, audits reviews, prepares specifications, communicates progress and completion. •Primary interface between Sales and Marketing for identifying customer product needs and prioritizing based upon research and development project list and timetables. •Oversees prototype development and wear test studies. Investigates any reported quality issues with Manufacturing. Works with Purchasing on material sourcing issues. Essential Duties: -Research new material/ product ideas -Initiate NDA’s/ MOUs with potential partners -Responsible for prioritizing customer modifications -Lead all phases of new product development -frequent field rides with armor /distributor reps -Main technical resource for the armor sales representative -Draft/Produce product technical product specs -Interface between sales force and respective R&D staff’s -Provide technical training and back-up for customer service -Assist the marketing manager in creation of communication tools -Thorough knowledge/competitive assessment of offerings -Provide end-user presentations/ training -Lead joint development efforts outside the company -Support customer demos/vest shoots Requirements: Marketing or technical degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. •7-10 years of related industry experience People are the greatest asset in any Company ...
