Non-IT Project Manager

Job Description:

 

The selected individual will manage the implementation of several FEMA projects that cut across FEMA organizational entities.  The selected individual will work under the guidance of a HWC Program/ Project Manager. The successful candidate will work on-site with senior managers of the organization – including SES and political-appointee-level federal managers.  The specific responsibilities will include:Development and maintenance of concise project scopes of work Development of written plans for all significant undertakings Development and maintenance of the project plan (including resource-loaded, time-phased project schedules) Production of project progress views and reports Facilitation of project management  meetings Effective use of appropriate project management tools and technologies (e.g. MS Project)

Additional responsibilities will include execution of daily tasks as directed by the HWC Program/ Project Manager and/or the on-site client manager.

Washington, DC Metro Area at a FEMA facility.

 

Minimum Qualifications and Characteristics:

 BA/BS degree with at least 3-5 years of federal consulting experience – graduate degree in management or other relevant field is preferred Experience in program and/or project management Demonstrated ability in maintaining a positive approach when working in a team environment Demonstrated ability in problem solving Demonstrated ability in actively engaging all team members (including the client) in all phases of project work Demonstrated ability in managing project change Demonstrated ability in analyzing project status, evaluating risks, predicting future project status, and addressing known issues Demonstrated ability in escalating decisions, when appropriate Strong verbal communications skills with exceptional presentation skills Strong organization and time management skills PMP Certification from the Project Management Institute preferred Candidates must be U.S. citizens, federal security clearance a plus
